ABOUT MONTANA BIKE ODYSSEY
Montana Bike Odyssey is a fixed route, self-supported, single stage, mixed surface cycling race that starts and finishes in Bozeman Montana. The 1,776 mile route travels clockwise around Montana, passing through the Rocky Mountains of Western Montana, across the expansive Prairies and Breaks of Central Montana (including two ferry crossings over the Missouri River), over the 10,947' high Beartooth Pass, through the Northern portion of Yellowstone National Park and back to Bozeman. It follows state and county paved roads, maintained gravel roads and unmaintained dirt roads connecting rural communities, often spread apart by long distances.
The route shares 385 miles with the Tour Divide race route and 75 miles with the TransAm race route.
Expect to experience all that the vast and diverse landscape of the "Big Sky State" has to offer on this epic and challenging route.
“I am in love with Montana. For other states I have admiration, respect, recognition, even some affection, but with Montana it is love, and it's difficult to analyze love when you're in it.” John Steinbeck, Travels with Charley: In Search of America
